Looking Up works with private schools and families in the DFW area, including Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake, Hurst, Euless & Bedford. Services may be provided on campus or virtually depending on the need and location.
Not necessarily. In many cases, parents can reach out directly to get started. Some schools may choose to refer families, while others simply connect parents with Looking Up as a trusted resource.
In most cases, the family pays, just as they typically would for counseling services. Jana is happy to clarify options during your initial conversation. Looking Up does not bill insurance but is happy to provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement.
Looking Up works with students in preschool through 12th grade, utilizing counseling methods targeted to meet each child at their specific developmental level. If you’re unsure whether your child or student is a good fit, feel free to reach out and ask.
Yes. Counseling is handled with care, professionalism, and respect for privacy. Information is kept confidential, in accordance with professional standards. Teachers and school staff may only be consulted with a guardian’s written approval.
Testing timelines can vary depending on the type of assessment being done. Most evaluations take one to two hours, with results provided within a week after completion.
Looking Up currently serves DFW and surrounding areas. If you’re outside this area, feel free to reach out to discuss availability.
Testing fees vary depending on type of assessment, length of evaluation, reporting needs, etc. Jana will provide clear pricing information before scheduling so you know what to expect.

Jana received her Masters of Education in Counseling, with a focus in play therapy, from the University of North Texas. She has provided counseling to children, adolescents, and their families, for over 15 years across a variety of settings including school, non-profit, and private practice settings. She has gained experience in working with children with a variety of concerns and has found a niche in working with children with learning disabilities and those identified as gifted and 2e. Jana has been providing psychoeducational assessments for over 10 years, which she enjoys, finding it a wonderful complement to counseling. She is fascinated by the unique way each child’s brain works differently and loves recognizing the strengths amongst the struggles.
Jana is a wife and mother to a tween and a teen. She knows that parenting is very challenging, but can also be rewarding and full of joy. She enjoys spending time outdoors, being active, a good book, and a great cup of coffee! Jana is a Jesus follower and approaches the world through a Biblical worldview. She is happy to work with children of all different backgrounds and faiths, however, and is respectful of their beliefs.

Under the No Surprises Act (H.R. 133 – effective January 1, 2022), health care providers need to give clients or patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for health care items and services.
